Doug Scholz-Carlson directs Madison Opera’s production with a focus on forward motion. He’s particularly skilled at controlled chaos, using the chorus to move set pieces and playing up the camp in romantic duets and ensemble numbers (“Romantic Atmosphere” and “Twelve Days to Christmas” are a hoot).
